Netflix and chill? Heard of iQiyi? Last year Netflix announced a licensing deal with iQiyi to stream original Netflix content on the site. The service was launched eight years ago by Baidu and this March issued an IPO in the US, raising $2.25 billion. The Beijing-based video platform has over 500 million users and aside from purchasing licenses and producing original content, a few years ago iQiyi partnered with the Venice Film Festival to stream the movies online. If you ever worked or lived in Asia, chances are you watched Korea’s My Love From the Star – iQiyi bought the exclusive rights to it, along with 100 other South Korean titles. Get ready to iQiyi and chill.
